2010 will see 'industrialisation of hacking'
2009-12-09
The industrialisation of hacking will be a trend in data breach security next year, it has been claimed.
Imperva predicted a clear definition of roles emerging in the hacking community will form a supply chain similar to that of drug cartels.
As for other trends, there will be a move from application to data security, according to Imperva, with cybercriminals seeking new ways to get around security measures and focus on obtaining information.
The organisation is also expecting to see more attacks on social network sites in 2010 and an increase in password theft or grabbing.
Amichai Shulman, Imperva's chief technology officer, commented: "The next decade must see the IT security industry rise up and stand shoulder to shoulder if it is to win the fight against cybercriminals."
Websense recently had a number of predictions for online security in 2010. It is expecting a rise in both the sophistication and prevalence of Web 2.0 attacks.
