Bank of Hawaii 'committed to data breach protection'

2009-08-26

The Bank of Hawaii is committed to securing merchants' information, with protection against data breach incidents one of its priorities, it has been stressed.

Mel Harada, Bank of Hawaii senior vice-president for Merchant Services, made this assertion, noting that SecurityMetrics "provided additional security expertise and a simple process to validate compliance with PCI DSS", a set of worldwide security requirements developed by the PCI Security Standards Council.

Over 90 per cent of Bank of Hawaii merchants have enrolled in the firm's first phase of a security program designed to validate compliance with the PCI DSS.

The banking firm is rolling out the PCI compliance project across the whole of its merchant portfolio after a successful pilot program.

Last month, the PCI DSS Wireless Guideline was launched.

It is designed to help companies learn how PCI DSS applies to wireless environments as well as understand practical methods for deploying secure wireless in payment card transaction environments.
