Cyber espionage: A growing problem?

Cyber espionage is on the rise, according to one expert, as employees are stealing data in order to sell it on to other firms or even governments.

Rick Caccia, vice president for product marketing at Arcsight, told IT Pro that this was one of the major trends that he had noticed.

The increase in these data breach acts was noticed by Mr Caccia as his firm analysed the log files and system data of its business clients.

"This has always been happening, but the big change in the last decade is that more and more information is online and accessible to employees," he continued.

Mr Caccia added that this is happening more than media coverage would suggest and takes place in businesses which are unaware of it.

In related news, director of product management at Platform Computing Martin Harris recently said that organisations are more afraid of the lack of control they would have over external cloud computing than its security.
