Data security 'still a top priority' for firms

2009-07-07

Data security and risk management are still top priorities for companies in today's environment, it has been claimed.

This is despite the fact the world has had to cope with a volatile economic situation according to Information Security Media Group (ISMG) marketing manager Mike D'Agostino.

His comments come after ISMG revealed that it has seen record-breaking number of page views for June for its finance vertical websites BankInfoSecurity.com and CUInfoSecurity.com as well as its GovInfoSecurity.com site.

BankInfoSecurity.com experienced a 100 per cent rise in monthly page views since 2008.

ISMG explained that one of the reasons for this growth was the Heartland Payment Systems data breach, which raised concerns in the financial and security spheres.

"Given the unprecedented focus on security and technology from President Obama and his administration, it comes as no surprise we've seen such a dramatic increase in traffic coming to our network of media properties," Mr D'Agostino added.

Robert Carr, the Heartland Payment Systems chief executive, recently told Computerworld that he was devastated when informed of the data breach at his company.
