Firms 'to be more proactive' with data security

2009-12-14

Next year organisations will be more proactive when it comes to preventing data breach incidents and keeping information safe, it has been claimed.

Financial organisations and defence agencies will be the ones to lead the move to greater security efforts, according to Unisys.

"Given the potential harm that can result from new and more dangerous forms of attacks, both physical and virtual, organisations can no longer afford to wait until they are attacked to defend themselves," said Sid Pearl, global director of risk intelligence solutions management at Unisys.

According to the company, Trojan attacks will still hit financial institutions and government agencies.

They should therefore look to take an offensive approach to data security to protect against the increasingly sophisticated and harmful threats, Unisys added.

Last month, the organisation warned of the various attacks that come about at this festive time of year, encouraging both individuals and firms to protect themselves.
