Managed wireless security services 'to more than triple in size'

The market for managed wireless security services will more than triple in size in the next five years, it has been predicted, which may excite those looking into data breach prevention solutions.

ABI Research has projected that the market will see a compound annual growth rate of 27 per cent for the years between 2008 and 2014.

It will grow to exceed $1 billion (£588 million) at the end of that period.

Talking about the growth of the market, vice president of ABI Research Stan Schatt commented: "It's due to the explosive growth of large WLAN deployments."

He added that while the growth of big WLAN deployments takes place, "organisations in certain markets such as healthcare and hospitality are finding it more efficient to outsource their security management".

Gartner last month predicted that four-fifths of businesses will overspend on their wireless service costs by an average of 15 per cent through 2014, perhaps suggesting they should look to cost-effective security.
