Mid-sized firms better at data security tech adoption?
2010-01-15
Mid-sized companies are more likely to adopt cutting-edge continuous data protection than small or large firms, research has indicated.
This may mean they are more likely to avoid a data breach, as security, backup and recovery as well as continuous data protection were cited as the most important initiatives in 2010 among the 1,780 datacentre managers who were surveyed by Symantec.
A total of 83 per cent of respondents rated security somewhat or absolutely important, while 76 per cent said continuous data protection was one of their top initiatives.
"Although mid-sized enterprises tend to evaluate and adopt new technologies at a faster rate than larger organisations, they still face similar datacentre complexities that are compounded by adopting new initiatives," commented Deepak Mohan, senior vice-president of the Information Management Group at Symantec.
McAfee and Facebook recently highlighted the importance of data security by joining forces in a bid to tackle some of the issues involved.
