PCI SSC gets another new participating member
2009-10-07
Another firm has now joined the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC), perhaps indicating that a number of other organisations seeking to prevent a data breach should follow suit.
Fortinet has become a new participating member of the PCI SSC, which looks to improve payment account data security.
It does this through the promotion of education and awareness of the PCI Security Standards.
The organisation was established by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa.
"By participating in the standards setting process, Fortinet demonstrates they are playing an active part in this important end goal," said Bob Russo, general manager of the PCI SSC.
Anthony James, vice-president of product marketing for Fortinet, claimed that PCI compliance is now a necessity for firms to securely do business over the internet.
In recent news, PCI SSC released a new resource to educate merchants over security best practices that defend against credit card skimming attacks.
