PCI Security Standards Council announces Community Meetings
2009-06-30
The PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) is to host its annual Community Meetings this year designed to let organisations propose and discuss revisions to the next issue of the council's standards.
Bob Russo, general manager of the PCI SSC, spoke of the importance of data protection while talking about the meetings, perhaps hinting at the vital nature of data breach prevention.
"For the PCI Security Standards to continue to be effective in protecting cardholder data, we must continue to solicit and represent the voices of payment chain stakeholders worldwide," he commented.
Over the body's first feedback period, 150 organisations from across the globe took part.
The council expects this number will increase this time around with over 600 participating companies.
Attendees will be treated to comments from industry experts, who could talk about how to protect from an IT intrusion.
Last month, the PCI SSC announced a new board of advisors with 14 organisations elected.
