Security pros and CEOs 'not communicating effectively' with protection
2009-07-22
Chief executive officers (CEOs) and security and privacy executives are not communicating efficiently enough when it comes to protection priorities, it has been suggested.
Dr Larry Ponemon of the Ponemon Institute wrote on a company blog that research from his company has highlighted some significant gaps between what CEOs and C-level security and privacy executives thinnk is more important in terms of protection.
The research cited by Dr Ponemon showed that 87 per cent of CEOs believe protecting confidential data that is shared with vendors, business partners as well as other third parties was important or very important, in comparison with the 48 per cent of C-level privacy and security executives that agreed.
"For a long time we've known that there's been something of a disconnect between the C-suite and the front lines of security and privacy," he asserted.
Perhaps the NHS is having issues in this area, as More4 News recently found that over 8,000 viruses have infected NHS computers in the last financial year.
