Trojans 'dominating' top ten June e-threats
2009-07-03
Trojans have been found to dominate BitDefender's top ten e-threats for the month of June.
Five of the ten in the list are Trojans, while the only new threat to make it into the rankings is Trojan.Skintrim.HTML.A, which may concern those firms worried about an IT intrusion.
The Trojan poses as an Outlook add-in called MailSkinner although is actually a rootkit/backdoor combination trying to download and install additional malware on infected machines.
Trojan.Clicker.CM took top spot, accounting for 10.13 per cent of all e-threats in June, taking the number one position from Trojan.AutorunINF.Gen.
The latter uses the Autorun file on shared folders and removable drives to spread and actually increased from last month's figures to take up 10.04 per cent of total threats, even though it did not come out on top.
Mikko recently wrote in a blog for F-Secure that there have been a number of malware attacks that have tried to use the news coverage of Michael Jackson's death in an attempt to infect computers.
