US 'responding to cybercrime'

With cybercrime on the rise US law enforcement agencies are putting in more effort, it has been suggested.
According to the Law Office of Howard Snader, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Department of Justice are stepping up their enforcement work to locate and punish cyber criminals, such as hackers looking to carry out an IT intrusion.
On top of this, the US Postal Inspection Service and US Secret Service are prosecuting hackers who have been responsible for a data breach, claimed the office, which asserted that there was a 138 per cent rise in identity theft convictions by US attorneys between 2004 and 2008.
It added that President Obama has recently announced that he would appoint a cybersecurity czar who would oversee the battle against cybercrime.
In recent news, TJX Companies settled a multi-state group of 41 Attorneys General over IT intrusions into its computer system over two years ago.
