Windows president denies critical flaw claim

2009-08-10

The president of Microsoft's Windows Division has been working to quell fears over a possible critical flaw in Windows 7.

In developments that may concern those looking to prevent IT intrusion incidents, Steven Sinofsky has written on the comments section of Chris 123NT's industry blog,

The site posted a method showing people how to crash the Windows 7 operating system, including a picture of the results.

Mr Sinofsky claims that Microsoft is always looking for and monitoring potential flaws which could arise, adding that "so far this is not one of those issues".

"While we appreciate the drama of 'critical bug' and then the pickup of 'showstopper' that I've seen, we might take a step back and realise that this might not have that defcon level," writes Mr Sinofsky.

Mozilla recently reported a data breach on its company blog affecting Gateway CDI, the third party vendor entrusted to run the backend of the Mozilla Store, which was also shut down as a result.
